چکیده

Macrophages are known to play an important role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis; however, molecular signaling pathways macrophages that responsible for plaque rupture have not been fully identified. This study aims identify biomarkers therapy targets atherosclerotic conditions by systematic review. Research procedure reviews using PRISMA protocol. The search engine used this is PubMed, with keywords ([macrophage] AND atherosclerosis) (signaling pathway OR pathway), reference application Zotero screen clinical articles. There were 689 articles identified 11 inclusion criteria obtained. identification resulted 30 associated conditions. proposed atherosclerosis interleukin (IL)-1β IL-18. potential LOX-1 schematic images plaques.

Cytomegalovirus Infection and Atherosclerosis: A Systematic Review

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is one of the most common infections that affects humans’ cardiovascular system. Although the literature includes controversial evidence for any correlation between CMV infection and arterial atherosclerosis, the majority of studies, especially those with larger patient population and stronger data stand for such a relationship. However, the number of prospective...

Macrophage Heterogeneity and Plasticity: Impact of Macrophage Biomarkers on Atherosclerosis

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a global epidemic, currently representing the worldwide leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Atherosclerosis is the fundamental pathophysiologic component of CVD, where the immune system plays an essential role. Monocytes and macrophages are key mediators in this aspect: due to their heterogeneity and plasticity, these cells may act as either pro- or anti-in...
